Nineteen organizations have received 2025 community grants from Altona Town Council. According to Mayor Harv Schroeder, they were issued over the last few weeks to groups which applied and were approved by council. The grants totaled $156,100.
"Some of those commitments included Kiddie Sunshine Centre for $100,000, which is part of our ten year commitment to provide $1 million for that expansion of childcare services," he said. "The Community Exchange received $10,000 in support of their dedication to providing a space for community connection where individuals can find belonging, purpose and access to resources. Altona Youth for Christ received $10,000 in support of their dedication to providing free programming to engage and support young people in our community. The Altona Community Action Network also received $10,000 in support of the Community Orchard Project."
Applications are now available for those organizations interested in applying for a 2026 community grant.
"We started providing information and asking for this a little earlier in the year, so we can start budgeting for those things," said Schroeder. The applications, as well as the granting policy, can be found on the Town's website.
