The Cluny and Gleichen Lions Charity PBR Rodeo delivered a heavy cheque to the Strathmore District Health Foundation earlier this month.
On Sept. 3, the Cluny and Gleichen Lions presented a cheque of $39,226 to the local hospital, with the funds being raised by the August rodeo.
"The funds will be used to purchase urgently needed medical equipment for Strathmore Hospital, including monitors to assess a patient's health status in real time and make timely decisions, and monitor equipment to provide dynamic, real-time data on heart rhythms," wrote the Strathmore District Health Foundation in a news release.
The annual rodeo donates 100 per cent of its proceeds to a chosen community cause, bringing $173,266 back into the region throughout the last eight years.
“We’re deeply grateful to the Cluny and Gleichen Lions Clubs, Wilson Rodeo, and the entire rodeo community for their unwavering support,” said a spokesperson from the Strathmore District Health Foundation. “This donation will have a lasting impact on the lives of patients and families across our region.”
The foundation thanked all the volunteers who made the event possible, as well as Coulee Creek Farms, which donated the venue for the rodeo.
