It is with both love and sadness that we announce the passing of Bernie Owen Brandon on September 6, 2025, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A one of a kind, he was known for his quick wit, lively humor and fierce determination. Bernie could light up any room leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Bernie was born in Moose Jaw on March 19, 1936, an only child to Earl and Lyla Brandon. He attended early school days in Parkbeg, SK and then high school at Peacock Tech in Moose Jaw, SK. In June 1957, he married Jeanette Chelsberg. They settled on a farm just north of Parkbeg making it their home, their pride and joy, for the next 66 years. Bernie carried with him a deep connection to the farm with values instilled by small town life. His love for the prairies and farming life shaped his identity and remained close to his heart throughout the years. Known for his steadfast friendship and commitment to family, he cherished time with those who stopped by the farm to visit.
Bernie was predeceased by his parents, Lyla May Victoria and Earl Richard Brandon, as well as his grandson Aaron Michael Brandon. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Jeanette Merle, his children, Todd (Marla) of Assiniboia, SK, Melodie of Moose Jaw, SK, and Jackie (Stan) of Regina, SK; his grandchildren Raegan (Joel) of Assiniboia, SK, Chad (Alyssa) of Saskatoon, SK, Jade (Jason) of Cochrane, AB, Nicolle of Moose Jaw, SK, Jordan of Regina, SK, Jacob of Regina, SK, and Lyla of Regina, SK as well as his great grandchildren Mason, Nate and Owen Rasmussen . His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Glaeske, the staff of the Assiniboia Union Hospital and the Home Care team for their kindness and compassion during his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday September 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at W.J. Jones and Son Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate.
