The Eatonia Spartans are one of three local teams hosting a game on Thursday to kick off Week 2 of local action

Another week of high school football is here as the season continues to get off the ground.

Starting off with the only Thursday game in the 2A conference, the Eatonia Spartans will look to defend home field with the Unity Warriors coming to town for a 4:15 kickoff. Eatonia lost 60-36 to Rosetown last week while Unity took down Maple Creek 56-15.

As that game kicks off in Eatonia this afternoon, so will another in Plenty at 4:00 PM, a 1A matchup between the Wildcats and visiting Biggar Blazers. Plenty didn't play last week, opening the season against 1-0 Biggar who beat Kerrobert in a thriller on the road.

The Macklin Sabres are the other local 1A team that didn't play last week. They will welcome Kerrobert to town for a battle under the lights starting at 8:00, as with lights installed at the field every Sabres home game will see an 8:00 PM start this year.

Another game on Thursday in nine-aside play sees two teams going for their first win as North Battleford's JPII Crusaders host the Meadow Lake Spartans at 4:00 PM, Conference 4's second game going Friday as the Humboldt Mohawks host the Delisle Rebels who opened the season on a bye. The Kindersley Kobras are on a bye this week after a 49-6 win over Meadow Lake in Week 1.

The only other game on Friday will be a six-aside matchup in Rosetown, the "Student Appreciation Game" as the Royals host Maple Creek at 2:00 PM, and that won't be the only football action in Rosetown with a junior football jamboree set for Saturday on the field.
