What began with one client’s simple wish to be around dogs has grown into a cherished tradition at Riverview Health Centre.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, dozens of dogs will line the street around the facility for the annual Riverview Health Centre Puppy Parade.
The event was created during the COVID-19 pandemic when pet therapy was cancelled due to restrictions. Although those restrictions are now gone, the parade is something that residents continue to look forward to.
Pets and their owners will walk around the building once, allowing residents unable to come outside to watch the pets from their windows. A meet and greet will also be available to residents at the front of the health care facility.
Organizers are encouraging anyone with a dog to attend the event. For those interested, the pets will gather at 9:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m.
The event will also feature a photo booth, face painting for kids, bandanas with the Riverview logo, grab bags for dogs, and refreshments for all involved.
