A fire Tuesday evening has displaced some West End residents.

The blaze broke out just before 9:30 p.m. in a house in the 500 block of Furby Street.

Heavy flames and smoke were coming from the house when crews arrived. Firefighters used aerial ladders to fight the fire from above.

It was declared under control shortly after 11 p.m.

One firefighter was assessed by paramedics, but did not require a trip to the hospital.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team responded to provide temporary support for displaced residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
