The Rotary Clubs of Okotoks and High River have announced the return of the Rotary Art Gala, in collaboration with the Foothills Country Hospice.

Over 50 artists from around Southern Alberta will showcase their work, which will be available for purchase, at the Viking Rentals Centre on Sept. 19 from 5-9 p.m. and Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Half of the proceeds will support the hospice’s expansion, which will increase its capacity from eight to 16 beds to meet the growing need for no-cost, end-of-life care.

The hospice offers end-of-life care at no cost, and has undertaken the expansion to meet growing need.

"Events like The Rotary Art Gala highlight the incredible strength of our community when local service clubs, artists, and residents come together to make a difference," said Shanon Maksymich, fund development officer, Foothills Country Hospice, in a media release. "The generosity of the Rotary Clubs of Okotoks and High River is helping ensure our Hospice can continue to grow and meet the needs of more families when they need us most."

The event will be free to attend, featuring hors d’oeuvres, with a $5 cash bar available on Friday evening. The following morning will provide attendees with one last chance to peruse the art selection.
