With the Airdrie Municipal Election just over a month away, the City of Airdrie is reminding residents about the services each level of government is responsible for.

The city took to social media to break down the responsibilities of municipal, provincial/territorial and federal governments.

In the post, the city shares that the municipal level takes care of individual communities like cities, towns and counties.

"Each municipality provides services like water, garbage collection, fire, planning and development, recreation, local bylaws and many more. Think 'your neighbourhood services."

Some of the items the municipal government are in charge of include snow removal, fire department, property taxes and local bylaws.

Provincial and territorial governments are responsible for services within their regions, including healthcare (such as hospitals), education, natural resources, and highway management.

The city clarified that the federal government is in charge of broad matters that impact the entire nation, such as national security, immigration, income tax, and the military.

Earlier this month, Spearman announced she will be running for mayor.

The municipal election will take place on October 20th.
