Two men are facing multiple charges after Battlefords RCMP recovered stolen trucks and arrested suspects who tried to flee from officers earlier this week.
Police say they were called around 2:10 a.m. on Sept. 7 about the theft of two vehicles — an F-150 and a flat deck truck — from a worksite north of North Battleford.
RCMP located the F-150 near Moosomin First Nation and attempted a traffic stop. Officers say the truck initially stopped but then sped off as they approached on foot.
A tire deflation device was deployed in the RM of Meota, forcing the truck to slow before it became disabled in a nearby field. Two men ran from the vehicle but were arrested shortly after with the help of a police dog team.
The flat deck truck was later found abandoned in a ditch.
Police say 33-year-old Dillon Pooyak of North Battleford is facing five charges, including theft of a truck, flight from a peace officer, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Dwayne Katcheech, 35, of Saulteaux First Nation, is charged with theft of a truck, flight from a peace officer, and failing to comply with a probation order.
Both men appeared in Battlefords provincial court on Sept. 10.
