Vulcan County Regional Fire Services responded to a baler fire that quickly spread into a grass fire on Tuesday (Sept. 9).  

Fire crews from Stations 19, 20, 21, and 27 responded to the fire, which was threatening nearby structures.  

No structures in the area were heavily damaged due to the quick response from emergency crews.

Vulcan County Fire Services is now reminding local farms and landowners of safety tips to mitigate the risk of fires sparking during harvest.  

The tips include keeping equipment clean and well-maintained, carrying water or fire extinguishers, and clearing stubble and debris from around equipment and storage areas.  

“Your quick action and prevention steps make a big difference in keeping our community safe during a busy harvest season,” Vulcan County Regional Fire Services said in a Facebook post.
