Drumheller RCMP partnered with Drumheller Municipal Enforcement, Kneehill County, and Alberta Sheriffs to monitor reckless driving in and around the community.

On Aug. 19, officers monitored roads in and around Drumheller, including school zones, playground zones, and residential areas, during a targeted traffic blitz.

As a result, RCMP reported the following:

  • 27 violation tickets for speeding, distracted driving, and other offenses.
  • 11 warnings.
  • 5 impaired driving sanctions, where drivers and vehicles had to be removed from the road.
  • 70 drivers were stopped at checkstops.

Some of the impaired drivers were part of Alberta's Graduated Driver Licensing program, which prohibits any alcohol in their system.

The Town of Drumheller reminded drivers that speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving carry serious consequences, including fines, demerit points, vehicle impoundment, and possible license suspension.

RCMP say they remain committed to road safety and initiatives aimed at reducing dangerous driving behavior.
