Constable Evan Joseph Keith Lilley passed away suddenly on September 6, 2025, at the age of 28. He leaves behind his loving wife, Gabrielle Wishart, and their cherished seven-month-old twin daughters, Elowen Lilley-Wishart and Cedar Lilley-Wishart, who will carry forward his light every day. He is also survived by his loving parents, Mary Pashe and Brian Lilley, his devoted sister Avery Pashe, and extended family and friends. He will be missed by his four cats, Poptart, Oliver, Mable, and Milo.
Evan, affectionately known as “Cheddar Bob,” grew up in Dakota Tipi First Nation and Portage la Prairie, where he was known as a spirited, funny, and kind child, always wearing a smile. He cherished his family deeply and carried fond memories of his childhood close to his heart. He shared a special bond with his sister, Avery, who was his closest friend, and he adored his parents. Evan loved sharing his passions with them - collecting memorabilia and cheering on hockey games with his father, exploring music and travelling with his mother. These moments of laughter, learning, and shared joy shaped his heart and guided the way he loved others.
Evan and Gabrielle’s love story began in high school, a bond that blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Gabrielle stood faithfully by his side through every step of his journey- cheering him on through university and then RCMP Depot, helping him choose his first posting, and supporting him when he transferred back home to serve the community he loved. Their shared life was rich with experiences - music, concerts, hikes, quiet dinners, road trips, and the small, ordinary moments that became extraordinary because they were together.
Through it all, Gabrielle and Evan dreamed of raising their daughters in a home anchored in traditional teachings, specifically those of love, respect, honesty, and truth. Those values shaped the life they built together and will continue to guide Gabrielle as she raises their girls, carrying forward the legacy of their shared devotion.
While Evan served with pride in the RCMP, his greatest joy came from fatherhood. His daughters were the light of his life, the embodiment of the love he and Gabrielle shared. It is through them, through the cherished memories with his parents and sister, and through the friends and family who loved him, that Evan’s spirit will continue to shine.
Evan’s life will be remembered for the joy he carried, the love he gave, and the family who carries him forward. His story reminds us of the importance of holding close to the people we love, cherishing the moments we share, and living by the values that guide our hearts. Gabrielle, their daughters, and his family will continue to honour his memory with resilience, devotion, and love.
A traditional Dakota wake will be held on September 14th, 2025, starting at 2:00 pm at the Dakota Tipi Gaming Centre, followed by a funeral on September 15th, 2025, starting at 2:00 pm at the Central Plains RecPlex. Both are open to the public. We encourage those in attendance to wear purple, Evan’s favourite colour, in celebration of his life.
