The Weyburn Golf Club Senior Men's held their windup on September 11th, after which they presented a $2,000 cheque to the Weyburn Golf Club's General Manager, Krystle Fedoretz.
The Executive for this year were Don McKinnon, Don Ruckaber, and George Mcleod.
According to the 50/50 Chairperson, Murray Benson, the funds were a donation to the WGC Front Irrigation Fund to help pay off the loan on the project. The five-year total raised by the Senior Men for the Irrigation Project is now $8,200.
The irrigation system on the front nine was replaced a few years ago, and the goal is to install an irrigation system on the back nine in the next five years.
"It's an extremely expensive project, so we need the funds before we can go ahead," shared Fedoretz in a previous interview. "We're looking at around $650,000 to get it installed. It includes all new piping as well as sprinkler heads."
She added she also works with local organizations and does a fair amount of grant writing to help reach this goal.
Currently, the grounds crew handles manual irrigation on the back nine, aided in part by having access to the surrounding water from the Souris River from the Water Security Agency.
