A 31-year-old man is recovering following a serious crash Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Selkirk RCMP were alerted to an erratic driver travelling north on Highway 9 in the Rural Municipality of St Andrews.

45 minutes later, Gimli RCMP were called to Highway 8 at Highway 229 for a collision involving an SUV and a semi.

RCMP say an SUV, travelling west on Highway 229, crossed the intersection without stopping at the stop sign, colliding with a semi-truck that was travelling south on Highway 8.

The crash caused the semi to roll onto its side into the west ditch, while the SUV  stopped in the middle of the road in the northbound lane of Highway 8.

The driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old male from The Pas, was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not physically injured.

It was later determined that the SUV involved in the collision was the same vehicle described as driving erratically on Highway 9.

No charges have been laid at this time.

Gimli RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
