Stanley Cup champion and current Calgary Flames forward Ryan Lomberg is hosting a meet and greet in Okotoks this weekend.

He'll be at Thrive Family Chiropractic, 105 Elizabeth Street, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 14).

Dr. Jason Baietto with Thrive has been Lomberg's chiropractor for about a year, since his move from Florida.

"He's not only an amazing hockey player, but just a great, great guy and loves to give back to the community," said Baietto. "He was open to coming down and just meeting fans and taking pictures or whatever they need. He's just such a fun guy to have around as well."

The meet and greet is expected to be busy, but there will be activities to take part in.

"We're going to have some fun kind of contest in our physio room area where we may have like the longest dead hang on the pull-up bar contest, where you can win prizes. We have off-height ice hockey lanes from here in town. They set up a full hockey goal with targets, and they have super cool technology where people will be able to shoot wrist shots for 45 seconds and see how many targets they can hit. It should be a lot of fun."

There will be prizes, including Okotoks Oilers tickets, Okotoks Dawgs merchandise, and gift cards from local businesses, as well as a raffle.

Attendees can also bring lightly used sports equipment to be donated to the Calgary Flames Sports Bank.

Baietto said it's a chance for the community to connect with a player who sets an example both on and off the ice.

"We're just really grateful to have Lomberg coming. He's always been known as the most encouraging, hardest working person on the team and he's just such a great example for kids...He's been to one of the Okotoks Oilers games, and people, my patients, continue to talk about that. They just love seeing him there. And he was so kind to all the kids that came up to him and asked for autographs or photos or whatever. So he's just that kind of a person."
