A Biggar family is facing a medical crisis after their young son, Logan Bonnett, was diagnosed with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome, a rare kidney disorder that causes the body to excrete too much protein in the urine.

Logan was first admitted to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) on Aug. 20, where he began standard treatment for the condition. However, his case has not followed the typical recovery path, with repeated emergency returns to hospital and a recent ambulance transport due to worsening symptoms. He is currently undergoing extensive testing and surgery at JPCH to manage his condition.

Friends and community members have launched a fundraising campaign to support the family as they navigate the complex and costly medical journey. The GoFundMe page, organized by Danielle Barclay on behalf of Laura Stacey, asks for donations to help offset expenses and ongoing care. A trust has also been established at Biggar Credit Union for those who prefer to contribute in person.

“The ongoing complexity of Logan’s medical situation is an unthinkable and extremely difficult and unfair set of cards for this young family,” the fundraiser page says. “Any amount would be greatly appreciated to help support them during these beyond difficult times.”

Logan’s parents are now focused on his treatment and recovery while relying on community support to help manage the financial and emotional burden of the illness.
