Residents of Kindersley came together Sunday to honour the legacy of Terry Fox, raising $4,410 for cancer research during this year’s local run.
The event, held on a sunny afternoon, celebrated the determination and courage that Fox exemplified during his Marathon of Hope in 1980. “All I can say is, if there’s any way I can get out there and finish it, I will,” Fox had said when forced to end his run early due to illness.
Community support played a key role in the success of the event, with Kindersley Co-op and Kindersley Save-On-Foods providing water and granola bars, and the Kindersley Junior Klippers assisting with the run. Organizers thanked every participant who came out to show support and contribute to the cause.
The local schools will continue the tradition with all three participating in the Terry Fox Walk on Friday at 10:30 a.m., promoting hope, courage, and determination among students.
