Sunday was the annual Terry Fox Run in Airdrie, and over 100 residents participated.

Kyla Cox, the organizer of the run, is thankful for all those who attended the annual event and helped raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation.

"It was awesome. There were lots of new faces. We probably had 120-150 (residents) take part."

According to the TerryFox website, the annual Terry Fox Run has become a classic Canadian tradition. With nearly 600 communities, big and small, urban and rural, English and French, fundraising for cancer research.

"The money you raise supports world-class cancer research through the Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI). TFRI invests your donations in the very best scientists in laboratories, clinics, and hospitals around the country."

Cox explained that this year, a lot of businesses also wanted to help out. It was also good to see a lot of the usuals.

"This year was my 10th year organizing, so it was cool to see it kind of all come together."

She also shared that this year, Airdronians raised $8600 for the Terry Fox Foundation.

"It's amazing to see that so many people want to help us out. There are so many places you can give, but people chose to do it here, which was awesome. It's just such a good cause, and I'm glad other people agree."

The Terry Fox Run will return to Airdrie next year.
