What began as a routine patrol for Portage la Prairie RCMP ended with a sizable drug bust on Saskatchewan Avenue West last week.

Around 3:35 p.m. on September 10, officers spotted suspicious activity in the area and stopped to take a closer look.

They approached the man they were familiar with and placed him under arrest.

A search turned up about 53 grams of methamphetamine, three grams of fentanyl, and other drug-related items.

Police estimate the drugs have a street value of roughly $6,800.

Thirty-one-year-old Paul Pugh of Portage la Prairie has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He remains in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
