Pebbles to Rocks Daycare is moving ahead with construction on its new facility in Estevan while preparing for a major fundraiser in early October.
Executive Director Karolina Tamulaitiene said the new daycare, located behind the hospital, will provide 90 spaces, the maximum allowed in Saskatchewan. “We broke ground in the beginning of June, so construction is well underway. We’ve got walls, concrete was poured in the basement last week, so it’s moving fast and moving along,” she explained.
The upcoming fundraiser, Pebbles to Picasso, will take place on October 4 at the Estevan Exhibition Hall. The evening will feature a supper catered by EB’s, a silent auction, and a live auction with 20 pieces of children’s artwork. “The deadline is September 22 to submit art or any live auction items. We’re hoping to get more kids' art because that’s what the event is about,” Karolina said.
Local businesses have also stepped forward in support, with Mid City Plumbing announced as the event’s gold sponsor. Silver and bronze sponsorships remain available. In addition, Alpha Taxi Services will provide free rides home to attendees.
Tickets can be reserved through Pebbles to Rocks on Facebook, where the organization is also running a contest for a chance to win two free tickets. More details can be found on their website or social media pages.
