Yesterday, Rocky View Schools (RVS) provided an update on current enrollment numbers in the school division.
Superintendent of RVS, Ryan Reed, provided the update, sharing that as of Wednesday, enrollment across RVS is 29,489.
That number is a slight decrease from the 29,617 reported on September 3 at the first RVS Board of Trustees meeting.
Reed explained why the division might have seen a decrease.
"Schools are asked by September 12 that if students haven't shown up, they remove them from their system."
As of Wednesday, RVS has seen an increase of 246 compared to the end of last school year.
According to RVS, they were projecting to have 29,730 students, which would be an increase of 487 students from last year.
At the end of September 2024, RVS had 29,243. That was an increase of 641 from the year before.
RVS did share that these are only preliminary numbers, with the final count being determined at the end of the month.
