West Central harvest progress is over double what it was last week, though still well behind the pace of the typical five-and ten-year averages.

For the period of September 9-15, overall harvest progress went up from 20 per cent to 47 per cent around the region. While representing a notable game, the sub 50 per cent mark is well behind the five-year average of 77 per cent for this time of year, and 10-year-average of 64 per cent.

While those totals are behind the area average, it is getting closer to the provincial average which came in at 53 per cent as of Thursday's most recent report. Rain and high humidity have caused for shorter harvest days around the region but still kept farmers in the field to help catch up to the provincial average, which did not see much of a rise with rainfall causing many other producers to pause harvest completely.
