Strathmore residents will find out who will be the Last Cowboy Standing this weekend.

On Saturday (Sept. 20), bull riders from across the area will be competing in an elimination-style competition. This is the fifth year that the event has been hosted in Strathmore and is organized by Lazy P Rodeo Company.

"It's a three-round format that starts with 25 riders," said Cale Pribyl, owner of Lazy P Rodeo Company. "Then it goes down to the top 16 riders from the first round, and the top eight riders in the second round get the chance to ride for all the cash and prizes."

There is $7,500 cash split amongst the three rounds, along with trophy buckles for each round winner. The rider who shows the most toughness and courage will receive the Iron Cowboy Award.

"Ticket sales have been going pretty well, and we're hoping to get lots more the day before and day of," added Pribyl. "It looks like the weather is going to be great, because last year was a little rainy the day before."

Around 400 to 600 people are expected to attend the event alongside several food trucks and a beer garden.

"Bringing an event to our local town and showcasing the animals we raise shows what bull power is like in Strathmore."

You can purchase tickets to the event on the Lazy P Rodeo website.
