Landen McFadden scored Moose Jaw Warrior's first goal Saturday night on their way to a 9-7 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings!
McFadden went on to score another and assist on three more, giving him a 5-point night. The Warriors beat Brandon 6-4 on Friday so, they're off to a 2 and 0 start to the season. They'll play again Saturday night when they host Swift Current.
The U-18 Winmar Warriors finished off their pre-season on a high note, beating the Swift Current Legionnaires 4-1 yesterday. Kaleb Page stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced. The Winmar Warriors start their regular season Wednesday night as they host Swift Current at Temple Gardens Centre.
High school football - Moose Jaw's Central Cyclones improved to 4 and 0 on the season with a 56-3 win over the Raiders in Yorkton. The Peacock Tornadoes dropped to 1 and 2 Friday when they lost 27-7 to Balgonie's Greenall Griffins. The Vanier Vikings opened their season in the 9-A-Side football league with a 74-61 victory over Fort Qu'Appelle.
And local junior golfer Krosby Jackman drained his 3rd hole-in-one of the season on the weekend. He aced the 5th hole at the Hillcrest Club to complete the hole-in-one hat trick! And, later in that same round, Ryan Gottselig, playing in the same group, scored an ace on the 12th hole!


The Hillcrest 2025 Club Championships took place over the weekend. In the Men’s division, Chris Schon claimed the top spot with rounds of 79 and 77, followed by Dean Spicer with a 75 and 85. In the 2nd Flight, Steve Cameron took first with scores of 83 and 80, while Mike Gilbertson finished second with 86 and 78.
On the Women’s side, Chantel Mack led the way, shooting 90 and 91. The Senior Men’s title went to Jari Yrkki (73-77), with Mark Larocque in second (78-80). In the 2nd Flight Senior Men’s, Kevin Ryan (80-76) edged out Claude Lebel (80-81).
For the Senior Ladies, Lorie Boyle captured first place with rounds of 85 and 80, while Shelley Ruecker took second (89-90).
In the Super Senior Men’s division, Earl Bender (76-78) topped the leaderboard, followed by Kevin Palmer (90-93).
On the Super Senior Women’s side, Deb Negraiff (90-88) came out on top, ahead of Julie Nelson (96-105). Rounding out the event, in the Junior Boys division, Krosby Jackman earned first place with a score of 85, followed by Bennett Bechtold (88) and Ty Arnold (95).
And the Toronto Blue Jays clinched a playoff spot with an 8-5 win over Kansas City yesterday. The Jays have today off. They'll start a three game series against the Boston Red Sox tomorrow night at Rogers Centre.
