The Moose Jaw Warriors’ Ethan Semeniuk has been named the Western Hockey League’s Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21.

Semeniuk, 20, put up five points — two goals and three assists — and had a plus-seven rating in the Warriors’ two-game sweep of the Brandon Wheat Kings to open the regular season.

The Fort St. John, B.C, product had a goal and an assist on Friday night in Brandon as the Warriors picked up a 6-4 win. Semeniuk’s goal came 57 seconds into the first period, to give Moose Jaw a 3-1 lead.

He then assisted on a goal from Casey Brown early in the second period to make it a 4-1 game.

At the faceoff dot, Semeniuk was 11 for 21 for a 52.4 faceoff percentage.

On Saturday night in the Warriors’ home opener, Semeniuk tallied a goal and two assists in a 9-7 win over Brandon.

Down 6-3 early in the third period, Semeniuk scored his second goal of the season at 1:06 into the period.

Semeniuk added assists to a pair of goals from Landon McFadden. One came in the first period, while the second was in the third. Semeniuk was named the second star of the game.

To open the season, Semeniuk sits in a tie for second among all skaters in the WHL with five points.

Semeniuk has 92 points in 215 career games in the WHL. He was acquired by the Warriors during the offseason in 2023 in a trade with the Vancouver Giants and was with the Warriors during their 2024 WHL championship run.

The Warriors are back in action when they host the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Temple Gardens Centre.
