The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting 42 new COVID-19 cases have been found in the region. 

Fifteen cases were found in the Kenora Health Hub, 25 in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub, and one each in the Rainy River and Dryden Health Hubs. 

Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts has started according to protocol.

The newly discovered cases pushed the active case count connected to the NWHU catchment area to 418. 

There are currently four people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the region. 

Of the 418 active cases, 171 are in the Kenora Health Hub, 166 are in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub, 29 are in the Dryden Health Hub, 22 are in the Red Lake Health Hub, 20 are in the Fort Frances Health Hub, four are in the Emo Health Hub, three are in the Atikokan Health Hub and three are in the Rainy River Health Hub.

NWHU recommends that everyone, including those who have been vaccinated, assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.
