Albert (Abby) Philip Rose October 6, 1935 – December 23, 2021
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Albert (Abby) Rose at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital peacefully, with his family by his side.
Abby was predeceased by his parents Fred and Ada, brothers George and John Rose, sister Alice Berle, brothers-in-law Olaf Berle, Roy Eves, Gary Hill and Albert Chevrier.
Left to survive are his wife Helen of 67 years, children Barry (Carol) Rose, Linda (Dave) Wideman, Wes (Carol) Rose and Cheryl (Brent Pearson) Rose; grandchildren Paul (Erin) Rose, Clint (Jackie) Bryon, Dawn (Greg) Lapworth, Ryan (Chelsey) Wideman, Jennifer Rose, Christine (Waylon) Skead and Zachary (Amber Markham) Valiquette; great grandchildren Kelsey, Sidney, Brendan, Merrisa Bryon; Carly and Dakota Rose, Ashton Lapworth, Brookes Wideman, Cerriwddyn, Rowan and Raedan Rose-Knoles; Logan, Drake, and Kaine Skead, River Markham-Valiquette and great great grandchild JackJack Tougas; sisters Betty Eves and Ethel Hill, sisters-in-law Jean (Don) Innard, Joyce Chevrier and brother-in-law Alvin Goodson. Also many nieces and nephews.
Abby was born in Saskatchewan and at a young age travelled with his family east and settled at Longbow Lake on the old highway. From there he grew up in the Kenora area attending school and working.
It was here that he met the love of his life Helen, married on September 18, 1954 and proceeded to have their family and enjoy life. Abby was an avid outdoorsman and spent his free time fishing (winter and summer), hunting, as well as camping with all family members, even when they grew and had their own. Truck driving was in his blood and he spent 60 plus years driving (Kron Developments, Reimer Express and ICG-Superior Propane), retiring in 1998.
As a member of the Royal Canadian Legion during a winter evening you could find Abby playing darts or cribbage. Upon retirement you would find him in his workshop building bird houses and lawn ornaments, and don’t forget making jigs for the boys for fishing.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 5, 2022 from 10:00am – 1:00pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, service will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Cathy Giroux Officiating.
Cremation will follow. A family burial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Current COVID practices are in place, for those who would like to attend Proof of Double Vaccination and photo identification is required for entry and a face mask must be worn at all times.
