Restrictions continue to impact the Northwest as Sioux Lookout announces tighter restrictions and more closures following the recent COVID-19 surge.

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout announced that as of January 5, 2022, the following municipal operations will be impacted for a minimum of three weeks.

Changes to services and facilities that Sioux Lookout residents should be aware of include:

  • Indoor recreation facilities and amenities (Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena, Recreation Centre) are closed.

  • Three weeks will be added to the expiry date of all current gym memberships to make up for the lost time.

  • Outdoor recreation facilities (outdoor rink) remain open, at 50% capacity, and must follow public health guidance on physical distancing.

  • The Municipal Office will remain open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a capacity limit of 10 people.

  • The Sioux Lookout Public Library will continue to have curbside pickup available.

  • Religious services, wedding and funeral services allowed indoors at 50% capacity or outdoors with capacity limited to permit physical distancing of 2 meters.

All Municipal facilities are following the rules put in place by the Province of Ontario regarding physical distancing, sanitization, and wearing face masks. This includes the Hidden Lake Landfill, Biidaaban and Sioux Mountain Children’s Centers, and the Airport Terminal Building, which remains open.

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout thanks you for your continued support as we follow the provincial guidelines to limit the exposure to and spread of COVID-19 in the community.
