There are currently 211 active cases of COVID-19 in the region

The Northwestern Health Unit says there are 6 active COVID-19 cases in local hospitals, with 2 residents in local Intensive Care Units.

The health unit’s daily reporting emails have been updated to include information that better represents the impact of COVID-19 in the region, due to PCR testing eligibility changes.

The current 7-day per cent positivity rate is listed as 17.3 per cent.

The NWHU says currently there are:

- 4 active institutional outbreaks in the region,
- 211 active high-risk cases in the region,
- 6 active NWHU cases in hospital due to COVID-19,
- 2 active NWHU cases in local ICU units,

Overall, the 211 active cases are broken down as 72 in Kenora, 65 in Sioux Lookout, 29 in Dryden, 26 in Fort Frances, 10 in Red Lake, 4 in Emo, 3 in Atikokan and 2 in Rainy River.

NWHU recommends that everyone, including those who are vaccinated, assume COVID-19 is in their community and practice preventative measures.
