Chris Warkentin, Member of Parliament for Grande Prairie – Mackenzie, recently raised concerns about the Vaccine Mandate for cross-border Truckers that took effect on January 15, 2022.
The Liberal government announced in November that all Canadian truckers crossing the border from the United States would need to be vaccinated in order to avoid a 14-day quarantine.
“This couldn’t have come at a worse time and will ultimately drive up the cost of everyday goods. From auto parts to furniture, appliances to food imports, everything moves by truck, but there are now fewer drivers” said Warkentin.
"Trudeau is showing he doesn’t care about the consequences of his actions. At a time when inflation is already at a record high, Canadians will be the ones paying the price for the Trudeau government’s poor policy decisions. The government should back off on the mandate because it will only increase shipping costs and further hinder an already weak supply chain.”
“Truckers have been the unsung heroes for the past two years, keeping our economy running and getting us the goods we need. There is no evidence that they have been a health risk to anyone.”
