Marlin 'Jarvis' Kokopenace
NOVEMBER 18, 1980 – FEBRUARY 12, 2022
Marlin 'Jarvis' Kokopenace, was born November 18, 1980 and was a Band Member of Grassy Narrows First Nation. On February 12, 2022 in the early morning Marlin Kokopenace passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre.
Left to mourn his loss is his common-law spouse Christa Ackabee and son Braeden Kokopenace.
Marlin was known to have a good sense of humour. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and enjoyed music along with his guitar. Marlin was a hard worker and worked for the Grassy Narrows band for a number of years as a Band Administrator and in the Ontario Works Office.
Marlin had many relatives, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, uncle Aaron Kokopenace and his children Vincent, Lyle, aunt Corrina Kokopenace (spouse Gary) and her children Warner (Waawaate), Roger Jr., Dylan, Sheeba, uncle Tyrone (Rachel) and children Ruben, Latisha, Malcolm, uncle Bryan Kokopenace, siblings Lorenda, Sheldon, Tony Jr., aunt Lizzy Keewatin (Andrew) and children James, Michael, Sinese, Shannon, Adam. As well as cousins Mitchell Assin, Glen Assin Jr., Tara Keewatin and many other family members to mention.
He was predeceased by son Calvin Kokopenace and daughter Azraya Ackabee-Kokopenace, great grandfather Adam Keewatin, grandparents Liza Keewatin, George Petiquan, Mary Julia Kokopenace, Victor Kabestra, Jardine Kokopenace, Michael Keewatin, aunts and uncles Ester Horvath, Priscilla Keewatin, Morris, John, Elvis Keewatin, Alex Kokopenace, Marlon Kokopenace, Crystal Loon and Erin Loon.
A wake service for Marlin will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Minnow Say Win Building, Grassy Narrows, Ontario. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am at Minnow Say Win Building with interment to follow in Grassy Narrows First Nation.
