Mandatory proof of vaccination will be lifted tomorrow as we move into the new month.

While talking with the Q104 Morning Show, Greg Rickford, MPP for the Kenora-Rainy River riding, shared his thoughts about more COVID-19 safety measures being removed.

It was announced on February 14, 2022, the province would begin to lift some of the COVID-19 safety measures, since that time, social gathering limits for both indoor and outdoor events have been raised/removed.

As of March 1, 2022, any remaining capacity limits will be completely removed and mandatory proof of vaccination for all settings will be lifted – businesses may choose to continue to request proof of vaccination.

“Lifting capacity limits in all remaining indoor public settings, removing proof of vaccination, these are all things that are happening around the world,” said Rickford.

He concluded, “We have stuck to a cautious plan to reopen and stay reopened and we are committed to that. I think we will see the fruits and benefits of that as time marches on.”

Masking requirements will remain in effect for the province, and there are no immediate plans to change that rule. The Ontario government continues to encourage all who are able, to get completely vaccinated.
