The Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have an individual in custody following an investigation.

On March 10, 2022, at around 2:30 p.m. officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Southworth Township.

Dryden OPP officers and the Dryden Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) located the vehicle and found the individual sleeping inside.

The investigation determined the vehicle was stolen and the individual was placed under arrest.

35-year-old Tyler Rivard of Niagara Falls was charged with the following criminal code offences:

  • Carrying concealed weapon - section 90
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court - section 145(5)(a) x2 counts

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - section 354(1)(a)

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis in a public place - section 8(1)(a) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Rivard has been held for a bail hearing that took place on March 11, 2022.
