As the mercury continues to climb and over seven feet of snow melts, conditions on local ice roads are deteriorating.

As of Friday, ice roads in the Kenora area will no longer be maintained.

This is according to Leonard Boucha, who provides updates on local ice roads conditions on the 'Winter Road Update For Kenora Area' Facebook page.

Boucha says, "With the warm weather forecast for the next four days conditions are going to change very quickly, everything is softening up including the landings."

"As always, the ice Road is a use at your own risk road," added Boucha.

OPP Provincial Constable, Jason Canfield says when on the ice in a vehicle or snow machine to be aware of water or slush on the surface.

“Be very wary of any kind of areas that look like they may have holes and the snow has disappeared and It looks like there’s a bit of water it usually means it might be right through,” said Canfield.
