The City of Kenora has declared another Significant Weather Event due to the major storm making its way through the area.

This is the fourth time the city has used a Significant Weather Event this winter, which allows the community to expect winter maintenance service delays over the coming days. The city says road clearing resources have been deployed, but residents are asked to be cautious on all roads and sidewalks.

The city says crews will be focusing on main roads and artery routes and asks residents to not pass an operating snowplow. The city is also recommending drivers to avoid any non-essential travel during this time.

The Kenora Transfer Station says curbside recycle and garbage pick-up has been cancelled today and tomorrow, as truck drivers were unable to finish their routes this morning. Residents can bring their items to the Transfer Station between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., as it will remain open today and tomorrow.

The City of Kenora says transit services have been cancelled today, and there’s no word yet on any potential cancellations for tomorrow.

The Kenora Public Library says they are remaining open today, but they will close Thursday due to the weather.

The City of Kenora's Operations Building will be closed Thursday and will reopen on Tuesday to the public.
