Valerie Fisher

JULY 9, 1965 – MARCH 23, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Valerie Fisher nee Scott, 56, of Wabasemoong Independent Nations, on March 23, 2022.

She was born to Cornelius (Muzhinigeyshick) and Mary Jane (Poozh) Scott, Jul. 9, 1965, in Kenora, ON. Valerie attended Beaver Brae High School in Kenora, ON and then later Islington Day School in Whitedog, ON. Valerie is survived by her aunt Margaret Quewezance, her loving sisters and best friends Emily Scott; Joyce Scott; Sandra Scott (Tom); Mary Jane McDonald (Charles) and Geraldine Scott. Four children: Erica Mandamin (Gabriel); Ariel Fisher (Shayne); Patricia Fisher (Tristen); and Grey Cloud Fisher. She is also survived by her only grandchild; Aryiah Coon Come; ex-husband Eric Fisher; and also, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces that she cherished with all her heart.

Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius and Mary Jane Scott; brothers Gary and Jimmy Scott; brother-in-law’s Rex McDonald, Jack Kent, Ernie Loranger and Fred Mandamin; sisters Patricia Scott; Jessie Scott; Deborah Scott; Rhonda Scott and Linda Kent; sister-in-law Linda Muckle; nephews Gary, Eric, Leroy, Orval, Ryan, James, Steven and Keith; Nieces Samantha, Shauna, Crystal and Karen.

Valerie was a loving mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment had with them. She especially loved her role as “Kookoo”. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and her friends and colleagues at the Finance and Band Office loved her as well. She often times still “poked” people on Facebook to remind them to play their turn on SongPop or send lives on Candy Crush. She loved 80’s music and enjoyed going for long drives with family and friends. Valerie was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others as she volunteered for the First Response Team. She did all this while caring for her four children. Valerie was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Even as her health declined, she often still smiled that beautiful smile we all cherish so much. We love you, mom.

The family would like to thank Sergeant Carl Bryant and Treaty #3 Police, Northwest Emergency Medical Services (NWEMS), LOTW District Hospital, Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Margaret Quewezance, E. Cindy & Adolphus Cameron, Taylor Scott, Shaylynn Ann Scott, Jolene Scott, Liale Scott, Stephanie Scott, Kevin Scott and Lakeisha Cameron. Also, to those who personally reached out to our family during this difficult time.
