We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear sister, niece, cousin, friend, Grace Anne Blackhawk (Ajidaamoo) Dotem/ Kingfisher, who passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 54 years.

Left to mourn her loss is her common-law partner Philip, her children Diane, Shane and Katrina, and her siblings Suzy Seymour (Blackhawk), Patricia (Gizhibaasigeg) (Ian), Percy Giizhe-Maanidoo and Nancy (Ajidaamoos), aunt Clare Katcheconias, uncle Stanley Blackhawk, her nieces and nephews Jessica Stary, Savannah, Donald, Chantal, Jesse, twins Clarenda and Kenny and Martha Blackhawk, Cheryl and Alwyn Jr. Cowley, Elizabeth and Josephine Lyman, Lane Anderson, Jeremy Marcus and Aidan Lucas Neganegijig-Ballyk. She will also be missed by many cousins, relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

She leaves this world to join her parents Patrick Katcheconias and Joyce Blackhawk, and her paternal grandparents Kenneth/ Maude Katcheconias, as well as her maternal grandparents Jim/ Winnie Blackhawk.  As well as her siblings Peter Blackhawk (Gichigaanikwat), Julie McKeever, Patrick Blackhawk (Shigaanweyaash) and Donald Ballyk, aunties Nancy and Agnes Katcheconias and aunties Nancy and Meta Blackhawk, uncles Joseph Katcheconias, Steven, Donald, Bobby, Ronnie and Joseph Blackhawk.

Grace Anne Blackhawk was born in Kenora, Ontario and was registered at Northwest Angle #33 First Nation. She was a resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba at the time of her passing.   

Grace has been a long-time resident of Mainstay and the Bell, she was well known and loved in the community.  Grace was known for her big welcoming smile, easygoing nature, and for her kindness that she freely offered to every person she met.  Grace was always the first to volunteer for something or offer someone help or assistance.

Over the years Grace has lit up many rooms with her presence, brought many smiles to the faces of those she knew and will be sorely missed by the people who knew her.

The Family would like to thank Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre for their care, and they would also like to thank Northwest Angle #33 First Nation for their financial support, as well as family members that helped out.  We would also like to thank the Winnipeg Police Service and the individuals that found her.

A wake service will start on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Norman Community Club. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Norman Community Club with Roderick and Louise Mandamin officiating.
