If you have a couple of hours to spare this weekend and want to play a key role in Steinbach’s summer festival, be sure to connect with the volunteer team to find a spot that works for you.
Volunteer coordinator Holly Shimaro says they typically need around 150 to 200 volunteers throughout the weekend and there are still some vacant shifts.
They made a minor change this year that sees shorter shifts which makes it easier for people to carve out a little bit of time to help.
Most shifts are two to three hours, but there are some shifts that are only one hour, Shimaro says.
From face painting, to helping in the artists tent, to hanging out in the volunteer lounge, to delivering water, there are a variety of volunteer opportunities that suit all personalities and abilities.
There is a website you can visit that will provide all the details for each shift so you can find certain tasks that work best for you. The site also shows updated information on which shifts are still vacant. This makes it easier for you to sign up and join the team of volunteers.
Shimaro says over 75 percent of shifts are filled and she is hopeful that a few more people will sign up.
