It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lonnie Raymond Joseph - Hossimibines. Hossimibines passed away June 14, 2022, surrounded by his paternal and maternal family at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre.
Hossimibines was predeceased by his Paternal Grandparents Eli Oshie and Edna Whitefeather (Jim); Maternal Grandparents Joyce Green (David) and William Wapioke. His Great-Aunties; Donna Mae Joseph and Evelyn White. His Great-Uncle; Allan Red Cloud. His Aunties; Doris Joseph and Harriet Joseph. His Uncles; Lonny Joseph, AJ Herbert, Daniel “Hoss” White, Joey Wapioke, Lloyd Wapioke, Gordon Green, Raymond Green, Clarence Penace and Edward Green. His cousins; Leonard Joseph Jr., Giselle Edna Rose Joseph, Sandra Louise Alison Joseph, Suzy Oustan, Tina Oustan, Kirk Mandamin, Jared Red Cloud and Margaret Bob. His Nephews; Kingsley Devyn Copenace, Robert Sam (Little Rob) and Dian Sidney Green. His Niece; Hazel Buckanaga. Step-son Lucas Petiquan.
Hossimibinese will be greatly missed by parents Rory Joseph and Alvena Joseph. His sons; Justis Big George (mother Yvette), Miigwenens Joseph (mother Wendy), Moozoons Joseph (mother Martine) and his other children whom he loved as his own; Nikita (mother Martine), Kailee, William, Jordan, Zoey and Grace (mother Chrissie). His siblings; Patricia Green (Keemootch), Leigh Green (Ronald), Lana Green and Tyler Joseph. His nieces; Ireland Bird and Shya Joseph. His nephews; Avery Copenace (Christine), Rylan Copenace (Courtney), Jarrett Copenace (Katja), Kordelle Green and Geronimo Joseph. His Great-Nephews; Evander, Jarrett Jr., Jakoby. His Great-Niece; Jrue. Hossimibinese had numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. His special friends; Bobby Copenace, Damian White, Crystal Copenace, Melvin Beecham, Boo, and many many others. Of course, they need to be mentioned, Hossimibinese will be missed by his two dogs; Mia and Makwa.
Hossimibinese was an out-going, comical and friendly man who enjoyed the company of his family and many friends. He absolutely loved his children; they were his world. Hossimibinese was a huge Winnipeg Jets fan and loved hockey. Hossimibinese loved playing golf with his dad, brother, sisters, cousins and friends. Fishing out on the lake was also something he loved to do. He also loved to sing Powwow and attend Powwow’s all over, during his powwow travels he was also known to sneak off to the casino and play poker.
The family would like to thank Iskatewizaagegan First Nation 39, Naotkamegwanning Band, Naotkamegwanning Health Services, Naotkamegwanning Education Authority, Shawendaawsowin Services, Peshigoneb, AAFS Niiganii Program, White Moose Pro’s (Maverick Blackhawk, Kelsey Blackhawk, Tashina and Terrence White). Tina Blackhawk. Paula Paypompee. The Staff, Nurses and Doctors at the HSC SICU department. The Brown’s Funeral home. All of the individual’s who helped cut the grass and prepare the grounds at Reed Narrows; we are all so very thankful for you working hard in the heat. The cooks are much appreciated and we would also like to thank them. Miigwetch to all of Lonnie’s relatives and friends who helped out. Miigwetch!
The Wake will take place at Reed Narrows on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 3:00 pm. The traditional funeral services will be held at Reed Narrows on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11:00 am. The traditional ceremonial funeral service will be conducted by Elder Howard Copenace.
The family requests that no one is to wear red and no flowers.
