Arnold (Sonny) Iverson
November 16, 1932 – July 2, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, papa, great-grandfather, uncle and friend at the age of 89.
Sonny was born in Kenora and was predeceased by his parents, brothers, and in-laws. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Beverly and his five children Cindy (Michael), Gus (Kristin), Shelly (Doug), Arnell (Scott), Kelly (Jeff); his 11 grandchildren, Tyler (Kyla), Jeffery (Seleen), Jacob, Franziska, Alexie (Mac), Bradley (Sam), Marley (Jenn), Stephen (Angela), Paul, Celeste (Justin), Sydney; 8 great-grandchildren Stassi, Kenley, Rylan, Aria, Charlie, Nathan Sonny, Alexander, Oliver.
Sonny grew up on the lake at Welcome Channel and from that grew his love of nature, the lake, and of animals great and small. He had a very special affection for dogs and over the years he had numerous special four-legged friends.
Our dad had an infectious smile that would light up a room. He loved to tell stories about the “good ole days” whether it was working as a commercial fisherman on Lake of the Woods or Diamond Drilling and all the people he met. Some people called him MacGyver because he could fix anything. He worked hard and had the scars to prove it. After retirement, you would find him either tinkering in the garage or downstairs fixing or hand crafting something beautiful from wood for the people he loved in his life. Sonny was a kind and generous man extending his knowledge to help those in need after all he was the jack of all trades, master of none, but often times better than a master of one.
Sonny enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He always made time for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whether it was taking them on trips out to camp or pulling them on sleighs behind the truck on the ice roads. He will forever be missed.
Thank you to all the nurses and caregivers at Pinecrest and to Dr. Thomas, who always had a nice word to say about our dad. We know he was treated very kindly, and we will always appreciate everything you did to make his life more comfortable and enjoyable.
An extra special thank you to Poppy and his mom who made our Papa’s face light up anytime his four-legged friend came for a visit.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. A private service will be held at a later date.

A true friend we could turn to
When times were good or bad
One of our greatest blessings
The man we called Dad.
