Two rounds of shower activity rolled through the Pembina and Red River Valleys Monday.
“Rain during the early morning hours Monday was followed up by showers and a few thunderstorms in the afternoon,” said CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. “After a relatively quiet week heading into Canada Day long weekend, we’re entering a more active pattern, but that will be later in the week. We’re expecting sunnier and drier conditions for a day or two.”

“High pressure is building today, and that will bring a return to sunnier and drier conditions,” noted Sumner. “A weak disturbance Wednesday will bring the possibility of rain, maybe a strong thunderstorm or two in the evening. After that, high pressure returns, and that will set us up for partly sunny skies heading into the weekend. The long-range forecast models are showing the possibility if increased instability as temperatures warm as we get to the weekend, and that will lead to that usual Summer-time later afternoon/early evening chance of a shower or thunderstorm.”
Daytime highs today are expected to be in the 22 to 24 range, but will build toward the upper 20s for Wednesday through Friday, possibly hitting 30 this weekend.
