Jagger Firkus didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called on Day 2 of the 2022 NHL Draft on Friday.

The Moose Jaw Warriors forward was selected with the third pick, 35th overall, of the second round by the Seattle Kraken.

Firkus led the Warriors with 36 goals and 80 points in his draft year as he rose up rankings.

He was named Player of the Game for Team White at the 2022 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game after picking up a goal and two points in the game.

Firkus becomes the first Warrior selected by the Seattle Kraken, who are entering their second season in the NHL.

He is the ninth player in Warriors’ history to be taken in the second round and the first since Jett Woo was picked by the Vancouver Canucks in 2018.

After Denton Mateychuk was picked 12th overall by Columbus on Thursday, this is the first year that the Warriors have had two players taken in the first two rounds since Dylan McIlrath and Quinton Howden were picked in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
