The family of George Lockhart announce his passing on July 6, 2022 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
George was born March 18, 1938 in Pine Falls Manitoba to Violet and George Lockhart, moving to Kenora in 1940 upon the accidental death of his father.
George is predeceased by wife Sonja Lockhart in 2004, infant twins, his mother and father, brother David, in-laws Carl and Olga Malmo, Sandra Malmo, Bud Malmo, June Malmo, Lorne Malmo, nieces Shelley and Carla Munson. George is survived by sons Art (Patti) and children Jeff (Tessa) and Joey; Scott (Betsy) and children Erik, Katie and Karly; Jim (Debbie) and children, Emma, Erin and Tess; sisters Phyllis and Joan, along with many nieces and nephews in the Lockhart/Malmo families.
George had an early career selling life insurance with Gus Landry, later operating his own insurance business for a number of years. He looked after the books for several local companies before joining Canadian Pacific Railway as a machine clerk until his retirement in 1994. George was a member of the Kenora Kinsmen for many years. He enjoyed spending time at the camp on Fox Island Lake of the Woods. He was known to enjoy many Friday evenings with friends at the family home in Lakeside.
The family would like to thank medical staff at the Keewatin Medical Clinic, Lake of the Woods District Hospital, Keewatin Pharmacy and the INR Clinic. Donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation in George’s memory are appreciated.
There will be no service, as the last place George could be found was at a funeral service! Instead, take a moment to raise a glass in George’s memory.
Rest easy Dad, Grandpa, Uncle and friend.
