"Manitobans were saddened to learn of the passing of Queen Elizabeth the Second, a remarkable queen who reigned with an unwavering commitment to service and duty."
That from Morden-Winkler MLA Cameron Friesen. He said the queen set the standard and was a model for many.
"The Province of Manitoba is recognizing September 19th, Monday, as a day of mourning. Of course, businesses can stay open, but we're encouraging Manitobans to honour and pay respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."
Friesen said the Province is giving Manitobans the opportunity to express their condolences directly through the use of these books of condolences.
"I was pleased, as the MLA, to be able to make such a book available for both the City of Winkler and the City of Morden and the R.M. of Stanley," said Friesen.
The book will be at the Winkler Civic Centre today (Wednesday, September 14th) and Thursday, September 15th from 9 am to 5 pm. It will then travel to the Morden Civic office and be there on Friday, September 16th and for Tuesday, September 20th from 9 am to 4:30 pm to allow people to sign and inscribe the book to express their condolences.
