A 25 year-old woman from Gretna was arrested and charged following a string of incidents last Friday in and around Altona.
That day, a 2018 Ford F-150 was reported stolen from the industrial park in Altona. Local police say the suspects spray painted the truck black.
The vehicle then became the subject of numerous complaints over the weekend, including a break and enter call to Pembina Valley RCMP.
Two days after the theft, RCMP fielded a complaint of a stolen quad from a rural home just west of Altona. Located on the road near the home, was the stolen truck from Altona. A witness reported seeing one person on the quad headed towards Altona. RCMP advised local police, and an off duty Altona police officer observed the quad operating in town. After the suspect parked the quad, the off duty officer engaged in a short foot pursuit of the suspect, who was apprehended.
Meantime, after reviewing surveillance footage, the stolen truck was also found to be involved in the theft of $2,000 worth of patio furniture and a water fountain from an Altona business on that Friday. It was also determined to be involved in all of the other complaints received by both police agencies that weekend.
Altona police, along with assistance from Pembina Valley RCMP, conducted a search warrant on a home where all of the stolen furniture was recovered.
The investigation continues, and Altona police expect to make further arrests and lay additional charges.
