The Ontario Government is supporting the Dryden community with a nearly $450,000 investment to revitalize and enhance Dryden’s riverfront Signature Trail.
The $447,891 will go towards enhancing and developing waterfront properties with essential repairs, upgrades, landscaping, signage and interpretative panels along the trail – allowing for easier access, additional seating and an improved user experience.
"The 5.4 km long Dryden Signature Trail that meanders along the Wabigoon River as part of an interconnected nature and urban trail system, was established for the benefit of locals and visitors alike,” explains Mayor Greg Wilson.
“As creatures of the province, municipalities are dependent on Queen’s Park for funding and we are grateful for their financial support this year in helping us further develop this part of our complete Dryden trail network,” he adds.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP and Minister of Northern Development, Greg Rickford, helped make the announcement last week, saying the investment will help to boost economic growth and improve Drydenites’ quality of life.
"Our government is enhancing community infrastructure to promote healthier and more vibrant communities with a higher quality of life for residents,” said Rickford.
"Our government is proud to make this investment to improve and develop the riverfront Signature Trail in Dryden as we know that it is integral to the tourism and economic development of the community."
The Dryden Signature Trail system goes along Riverview Drive and into the Laura Howe Marsh area.
