William (Bill) Ireland passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday September 30th after a brief battle with cancer.
Bill was born in Moose Jaw on April 16th, 1951, the fifth of seven children. He was predeceased by both his parents, Julia, and Ernie Ireland. He is survived by his brothers Garnet, Doug, Jack (Sharon), David (Tara), and his sisters, Vi Liepert, and Jeannette Cole. He is also mourned by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Bill worked with his Dad and brothers at Super Meats until it’s closing in 2000. He continued working with his brother Jack and his partner George Fowler at Super Meats Catering until retiring in 2012. Bill was relied upon for his remarkable memory and was consulted often for this skill. He never forgot a name or face and loved nothing more than chatting up the customers.
He had a special relationship with his Mother Julia. The two of them travelled extensively throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, and Denmark. They ended up in Carlisle, England, Julia’s birthplace. Bill was thrilled to meet his Great aunt and cousins and reminisced fondly on this experience. It truly was a highlight for him. They also took a couple of trips to Hawaii- just for the fun of it!
Much gratitude is extended to Bill’s best buddies, Brent Patterson, and Stuart McIntyre. Their steadfast support, kindness and compassion was such a comfort to Bill throughout this journey.
We acknowledge Dr. Geyer and Tiffany for their care and compassion.
Shout out to Cathy and Sarah from Palliative Care for their expertise and sensitivity.
Thank you all so very much.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no funeral. He wished to be cremated and join his parents at The Prairie Memorial Columbarium.
In living memory of William, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.jonesparkview.com (Obituaries).
