The Niverville Chamber of Commerce is hosting an all-candidates forum Wednesday, October 5 in the Fieldhouse of the Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre.
The Forum will give Niverville residents an opportunity to hear from each of the 7 Council Candidates through questions the residents have submitted as well as questions the Chamber has regarding the growth of the town and their thoughts on bringing in more business.
There are 7 candidates vying for 4 council seats.
The four incumbents are Nathan Dueck, John Funk, Kevin Stott and Chris Wiebe.
The three challengers are Jason Alderson, Meghan Beasant, and Bill Fast.
Mayor Myron Dyck who has already secured another four-year term by acclamation will be opening the evening with a brief address.
Dyck says, "I'd like to encourage people to participate in whatever means they can, whether in person or watching the livestream broadcast." He continues, " An event like this gives residents of the town an opportunity to hear from the candidates, to listen to what they have to say on a variety of questions which they will be fielding."
He anticipates the Niverville CRRC will be set up with chairs for the Candidates facing the forum guests so that everyone can see and hear them.
"This is a Chamber-led forum, so they have gone to the residents of the town and asked for questions. Of course, due to time constraints, not all the questions will be asked, but I know that they have definitely looked for community input."
The evening will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Candidates may also be available afterward for an informal meet-and-greet.
The Chamber says, "This is a chance for the community to come out and learn about the candidates running in the 2022 Election to make an informed decision on Election Day."
