Parents in the Municipality of North Norfolk will soon have a new outlet for child care.
In August of 2021, a group of community-minded individuals created the North Norfolk Childcare Centre (NNCC) Board with the intent of establishing the first licenced daycare within the municipality.
Today, we are thrilled to announce that due to a gracious donation, a building has been secured. On January 1, 2023, NNCC will be acquiring the building currently known as the Lions Centre in Austin, MB.
President of the North Norfolk Childcare Centre board, Jo-elle Early, says “We are so thankful to have the communities’ support with everything, especially when it comes to helping fundraise.” She says that although they have fundraised already, they are not quite done yet.
"Building upgrades and renovations must be completed to obtain a childcare license. For that reason, we will continue our fundraising efforts to secure enough funding to complete all the work and purchase necessary items for the daycare to operate."
The current organization that owns the building has been operating it as a community rental space, and the NNCC will continue to do the same for the foreseeable future.
"At this moment, no formal timeline for opening has been established. Progress will be dependent on securing funds, renovations, and staffing."
"We will be looking to the community to provide any feasible support. If anyone is in a position to donate, we ask that you contact myself at 431-729-1041 or email northnorfolkchildcarecentre@gmail.com. "
The NNCC is excited to begin their work in Austin but won’t lose sight of also pushing for a location in MacGregor as well.
