Kenora MP Eric Melillo says he’s looking forward to northwestern Ontario’s new Mayors and Councillors once they’re sworn into their positions next month.
“I do want to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone who was elected in Kenora and throughout the region,” said Melillo, in an interview with the Q Morning Show.
“I look forward to working together with everyone to see our region thrive. I want to thank everyone who put their names forward to run. I know it’s no easy task, but it’s an important one. I’m thankful for everyone who stepped up.”
Melillo says he plans to tour the region in the next break of Parliament to meet with the region’s new members of City Hall.
They include municipal veteran but new Mayor Andrew Poirier and five new members of council in Kenora, along with incumbent Graham Chaze. Dryden also has a new Mayor in Jack Harrison, with two returning councillors and four new members.
Everyone’s returning in Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, Mayor Doug Lawrance and half of Council remain the same in Sioux Lookout, while Red Lake and Machin’s Mayors both retained their seats but saw some changes at the Council table.
